HuanDao Documentary

HuanDao Documentary is a feature length independent documentary produced and directed by SueAnn Shiah. The film follows the story of two young women embarking on a two-week bicycle trip (known as huandao) through the country of Taiwan. One is Taiwanese American, and her return to the island explores her relationship with her family, her bicultural identity, and her greater understanding of self, home, and belonging. They travel through the beautiful island, experiencing its food and culture, befriending strangers along the way that challenge the question-- what does it mean to be Taiwanese and what does it mean to be American?

HuanDao was funded through Kickstarter in the summer of 2014 and was digitally released in the Fall of 2016. HuanDao was an official selection of the 2017 Ithaca Pan Asian American Film Festival.

The documentary’s original soundtrack is available to stream or download at Bandcamp. Access to the film for download, streaming, or screening events is available upon request. Fill out a contact form for more information.
